Clear height restrictions in the mezzanine
Architects' external design criteria
Working for Bancroft Building Service and the consultants MFD, JET provided the designs and the key components for the solution. This large warehouse had five separate working environments including high bay racking mezzanine areas each with their own heating and ventilation requirements.
The racked mezzanine areas provided minimal clear height for services, so specialist rectangular ductwork was designed to overcome this but still deliver the correct air distribution.
The high occupancy levels together with the heat gains demanded a high ventilation rate but with minimal air movement in the picking and packing area where people operated.
Nine AHU's were located on two high-level platform. This maximised the operational floor area and provided ease of access for future maintenance. Combined air inlet plenums to the AHU's were engineered to meet the architects detailed requirements for a clean external shell to the building.
